He's only a day early ---
I drove to the shelter, since Rogue (the white/deaf aussie) has been adopted, we figured we have room for one more.
But the shelter was closed!
But here stood this dog! And his paws were on the fenced in enclosure, and I use the term loosely, that people can do a meet/greet with prospective adoptees at the shelter. It is not secure AT ALL but there he stood and I realized that the car I'd seen dashing away as I pulled up had PROBABLY just left him in the yard!

Image

It's a quandry -- if he was being dropped off there, it's OK - but if he was a stray - and someone was just dropping him off there because they were closed, then it's a problem. I will have to see if there's any inquiries about him. Maybe send them a pic.
Anyway--he has no chip, no collar or ID otherwise.
And it's a MYSTERY to me, what breed he is!??? ANY GUESSES!????

lol

BTW he's altered already...and seems like he's in great health. His coat is so shiny!

He looks to me like he could be a Border Collie / Lab mix. :|

That's what I thought, too. Or maybe some kind of setter mix because he looks pretty tall.

He is a great dog. He knows SIT and Shake hands and lay down. And come of course. He's ALTERED, he's shiny and very healthy. And I have no idea why they'd dump him. We're taking him back today to see what the shelter wants to do with him. I'm kind of attached to him and afraid he'll not get adopted if we leave him there, should he actually be an owner surrender. If his owner's searching for him, I'll be ecstatic. And offer to chip him for them.

lab/golden or lab/newfie

the lab/border collie mixes I've seen usually have pointier features and nose, he has a golden's face IMO

thats my best guess!
I can only please one person per day. Today is not your day, tomorrow doesn't look good either.

OMG Thanks so much. The newfie fits :D He's shaggier and SILKY furr'ed more than a labrador! And newf will get him a few extra looks. He's such a great dog - and does have quite an exaggerated "stop" so he COULD have some newf thrown in! Or even golden, yep! eta: I DID change it to Golden mix - that would account for his huge thick furry blanket-like ears!
