so i'm ready to start pulling, but i was wondering if anyone had any suggestion on what surface is best for traction and paw safety? just want to make sure i can scope out an area with the right stuff and that won't attract a lot of negative attention, thanks!

just about anything other than pavement and concrete. Depending on the pull you go to, your dog will be pulling on anything from carpet to snow and ice.

Drag weight in grassy fields is the best for training for any surface... check out http://www.apbtconformation.com and go to the weight pull training link...it has all kinds of very valuable info for training and getting started . Good Luck
