Yes. "White Doves" at weddings are actually white homing pigeons. If you were to release actual white doves, chances are they would all die.

They don't have the ability to home, and while some would survive, most would die of starvation.
That, and I noticed from the few white dove releases I've seen, they have an uncanny tendency to run into windows.
