OMG I just typed a whole long reply and lost it LOL
Here we go again...
My first rescue dog was Peter, a greyhound. I quickly learned that greyhounds are like chips...you can't have just one, so I decided to start fostering to curb my cravings of adopting more. Yeah..uhuh. I did well with the first 5 or so...and then came a string of failures
I had become very active and had my name out there for greyhound rescue. I enjoyed talking with people and helping them find rescue groups and/or in some cases, finding groups for unwanted dogs. Someone found my name and contacted me about Miss Maggie...and my husband was in love.
He has always wanted a pit. We talked about it and agreed to meet her and see what she thought of my dogs. And what exactly did Maggie think of my dogs you ask?
Well...when we brought out Pearl, Maggie jumped about 4 feet in the air, landed and rolled on her back. Her tail went crazy and so did Pearls. After I felt confident that there was no aggression between these two, I let go of the lead and off they went! We ended up (in December) out in the yard for an hour watching the greys play "Chase Maggie and roll her around the yard".
So, Maggie opened the door for ALL dogs in my home, and I have since fostered all kinds of dogs. Most recently a dachshund and now a lab cross (that I THINK has pit in her). I have learned a new appreciation for all dogs - the bullies in particular through my endeavors. Thanks Mags!
