Extreme sadness warning. Now that I got over bawling my eyes out, I have to go hug my dog...

If you can handle it, look at the photo gallery after reading the article... although that really put me over the edge.

I looked in the gallery and it was really sad. Although as sad as it was, I'm so glad that those dogs had warmth, comfort and food for at least a little while. Humane euthanasia was a blessing considering what their fates would have been had they gone back to that low life scum.

Okay, I was going good until this part
Her supervisor pulled her aside and told her the thing that all these years later still helped get her by. "You might be the only love they know in their life."

And now I'm crying.
"All changes, even the most longed for, have their melancholy; for what we leave behind us is a part of ourselves; we must die to one life before we can enter another." -Anatole France

they did an incredible job on that story despite it's sadness. hopefully it makes a difference on the people of Polk County. I have had to make the decision a number of times to euthanize and it is terrible. I always ask plunge the needle myself because it is the only way I can justify making the decision. What kills me about the humane society of the united states though, the emphatically recommend to euthanize all those pit bulls but have no problem adopting out the belgain malinois that was probably used to guard the property from rival dog fight trainers who would steal or kill his dogs.
