My deadly pigeon army

If it's a non-human, non-Pit Bull, family member, post it here!

Postby Sariss » August 10th, 2006, 5:39 pm

Okay, well I don't think they are deadly, but they are my army of feathered friends!
I gave Daisy a bath today and decided I should set out a pan of water for the pigeons. Before I leave for College at the end of the month, I intend to get better pictures of these guys for you, since we have many interesting and beautiful breeds. Unfortunately only the racing homers really came out to have a bath.

It's a crappy pan, but it works!

They're interested...

Oh, and out of bordeom, here's a video of the freaks. It's only about thirty seconds long.

Hey, they were having a good ol' time! What if you got them a little kiddie pool, or would they just bird dirt it up?

It's actually two buildings we keep them in. We don't clean up after them *every* day, cause with 60 or so pigeons, that'd be hard. Though we do have massive cleans on a regular basis. That's fun.
Here are the two buildings they are in:

As far as friendliness goes, they are all decently friendly. However they are flighty and will probably fly away when you approach them, unless they are the select group of racing homers that flies on a regular basis, they have the most interaction.

I've thought about that since they ALL try to go in at the same time. There weren't that many this time because I was there (I mean, do YOU want someone taking pictures while you have a bath?), but there are usually like at least 10 trying to get in at once, with a bunch of others waiting.

I bet one of those hard plastic pond forms would work! Oh, hell, just buid a little pond, with a waterfall, and a fountain, and fish...oh, yeah, birdie paradise!

What's creepy about it? They're just birds. We show them, race them, they are in weddings, funerals, etc etc.

So those doves DO come back home after they're released after a wedding? Like, they know their way and just make it there?

It always intrigued me.
