Well,

This site was recommended to me by someone on another site, which i wont name, but cant say I like the vibe there very much. I really hope things are nicer here.

My name is Karl, I live in Argentina with my wife although im Scottish by birth. We currently have two five month old Pitbulls, Kaya and Moto. Male and Female.

I started with pits when I was 20, 12 years ago. Ive had dogs and grown up with dogs all my life. Before getting my first Pit I took a lot of time studying the breed and getting myself prepared to own one. I suppose I believed it would be a much harder and less rewarding dog that I discovered.

In the end I discovered a dog which is probably the most energetic and playful breed of any dog I have known. To be honest for a breed that people say is dog agressive, I have found the complete opposite, its the most dog playful and tolerant of all breeds. far more so than breeds like Goldens.

Granted my dogs are always very well socialised as pups, daily with groups of dogs of all shapes and sizes, all with owners present of course. Some careful tutoring and guidance and all said and done ive never seen dog agression from any of my dogs.

As for people aggression......please. They would lick you to the verge of death and help you carry off my TV if you break into the house!!

I think Pits have a bum rep. Im not in favour of agressive sports, protection or any form of traing that raises a dogs natural agression levels and prey drive. The exeption is for PURE working dogs who work for Police or other groups in which case its good for the breed image.

I get genuinely annoyed by the amount of comments about how dangerous my dogs are, because it couldnt be further from the truth.

My second bitch Kaya was the joy of the park. She was a two Bull cross, English and Pit so no papers and no breed laws ( i lived in the UK then and there were muzzle and leash laws). She could always be trusted off leash with me and never had an ounce of mal nature or bad manners to dog or human in here. Her only problem was the burning desire to play with everything on four legs. As a pup at 3 months she was double the size of all in the rest of her litter (i fed her normally she just grew BIG) and as a full adult she was almost 70kgs in weight. Not tall really but built like a little boulder. Meanest looking thing on four legs to all onlookers but the loveliest dog in the world to anyone who knew her. To dogs and people alike. Like my current dogs she had many four legged friends in the park with whom she played daily and if ever a dog was an example of how great pits can be she was it.

To be honest all of my dogs have been this way, my current two are moving along the same lines. We dont have Breed laws here in Argentina and I live right beside a great dog park. The group of dogs and owners there are all very nice and ive been taking Kaya and Moto there off leash since they were passed vacinations at 3 months. They are very good with other dogs, always very happy to see their buddies and love to play. Just the way in my experience a healthy is in nature.

There are many aspects of modern Pits that frustrate me. Their bad rap and also their growing health problems. Im only interested in HOUSE Pits and social animals because I believe thats an environment they shine out in. They are wonderful with kids, wonderful with people and as I said I fully believe wonderful with other dogs, even the most annoying dogs they tolerate and ignore.
I like people to see my dogs and watch them try to reconcile the rep a pit has with the dogs they see infront of them. Two friendly bundles of waggling tails who love to fetch frisbies all day and hop roll around playfully with other dogs when they arent licking people!

Hardly devil dogs!

I will post some pictures when I find somewhere to put them up online.

Anyway, hi everyone.
