I feel that if you judge a dog by it's appearance-or little "defects" you don't deserve a beautiful dog like him anyway. Just like saying you wouldn't adopt a Brindle or Black dog-just because.

Maryellen wrote:her ears turn alot of people away.. she has papers, and is pure, its a genetic defect. when my friends got her from her owner she was living in feces and urine in her crate, everyone turns her down because of those ears.. i love the ears... and she is such a great dog, i met her a few times when i hung out at their food store

It isn't a genetic defect. Bat ears have always been in the breed and in fact there are ADBA CH with them. Rose is preferred and the p r i c k (proper term but I knew censor thing would get it messed up) is simply a fault. It isn't a defect at all, just not stylish

I am not at all suggesting this, so dont get me wrong.. but if so many people are turned off by 'bat' ears, couldnt the ears be docked?

docked?????? (you mean cropped, docking is the tail being cut off) your joking right?? there is no way a dog will have its ears cut off because it might improve its adoption status.... if any rescue did that for cosmetic reasons they are not reputable ..

Yeah, cropped. You knew what I meant. :P

Like I said, I wasnt suggesting it... I really think she's beautiful with those ears. I dont know much about 'cropping', Ive never been interested, or looked into it, so I dont know how or why its done. I was always under the impression that it was done to make the dog look 'tougher'. Either way, if I know anything about it, its that its painful for the dog.

I dont know why the thought even crossed my mind, and I wasnt asking in regards to Deja specifically.. just in general.

She's too old to get either cropped or docked. The vets in my area won't do either past the age of 16 weeks.
