Sock-M needs Prayers

Food, Fitness and how to keep them healthy.

Postby SisMorphine » July 11th, 2006, 4:36 pm

I prefer to not see my Wally until the very last possible moment. Nothing makes me cry more than seeing him all drugged up and weird after surgery. I hate it. If I were you I would wait until tomorrow, less traumatizing for both of you.

I'd want to be with her too. :( All I can do is offer you lots of hugs & good thoughts.

I'd sleep there with her if they'd let me LOL

I have to bring her food by even if I don't see her because we didn't expect her to be there over night. If they only took a piece of it she'd be at home , but because it was the whole thing she has to stay :(

I still haven't decided if I should see her

Oh, that's a tough call.
Speaking with experience, it is going to break your heart when you leave and look back at her.....and she's looking at you.....

I think it's best to wait like they suggested.

Thanks I went at 10:30 pm last night to bring her food so she wouldn't have to eat the crappy stuff at the vet and ended up feeding her. I purposely went after visiting hrs had ended because i didn't want to get her upset; I was just dropping off the food, but once I was there they brought her right out to me any way. She ate and I took her out to potty. I stayed about 20 minutes. I wanted her to rest

She was still groggy and looked horrible , but still wanted to see everyone. She was wagging her tail like crazy. The people working all came to see her and so did the clients. It is also a 24 hr emergency clinic so there were several people there
... ooops that really isn't resting. But she was calm and not jumping around so theysaid it was ok.

She is pretty easy going so even when I had to go she was fine. She was loving on the guy taking her to the back

they shaved 1/2 her body yikes I guess to prevent infection. Poor girl. Eveyone there loves her, but she still looks so sad. She is going to have a pretty bad scar too.

I'm glad you saw her. IF something would have happened to her during the night you would have never been able to forgive yourself had you not at least seen her. :groupHug: She's gonna be ok, she's gonna be ok, she's gonna be ok. :)

Now that you've seen that she's doing well, you should be able to relax a little more. It sounds as though she's in good hands at the vet. When do you pick her up? I think there's going to be one spoiled rotten Sock-M at your house!

Bless sweet little Sock-M. Lots of hugs and good thought she makes a speedy recovery so she can go home with her mommy to be spoiled and pampered.

Sock-M is home as of yesterday... Sorry I didn't update sooner. They pretty much didn't want her too leave because they were having too much fun with her LOL, everyone in the very large practice seemed to know who she was. She didn't seem at all stressed when I picked her up which is good. I should know results by next week sometime.

She wants to play, but I'm not supposed to let her. I've been carrying her around alot which isn't too hard because she is 48lbs. She absolutley HATES the elizabethian collar; so I pretty much spend all my time making with her so she doesn't have to have it on long.
She looks pathetic with a nasty looking stitches and quite a large incision line.I took a picture of it but don't have time to post now

I pretty much have had no sleep since July 10th and the other dogs are feeling a bit neglected at this point. But we are hanging in there

Just wanted to give an update.

Thanks again everyone for the prayers and well wishes. They are appreciated and still needed.

Actually yes, but after the $2, 000 vet bill, I really can't .

She seems a little happier today. We both got some sleep finally

I'm not happy with the stitches they are thick and lumpy and the scar will be HUGE . But as long as she is OK that is what counts

Instead of an e-collar, I use a beach towel folded the long way several times, then I wrap it around the neck and safety-pin it so it looks like a human neck-brace. Much more comfortable for them, I think. :)
