Kitten is off

Postby Violet » June 27th, 2006, 12:30 pm

to her new home and the future of a service dog!!! I had to really consider heavily the placement because she went into a multi bully home with another female. The service dog she will eventually replace is a female. But I weighed heavily the 20 years of experience with bullies(her new owner) and the set up and the future for Kitten. Kitten is two years old and the dog she will be replacing is now 8 and facing imminent retirement due to some health issues....I am very excited for her and thrilled with a happily ever after.

This is the first time in 14 plus years of rescue I have broken my rule of placing a same sex bully.

Congratulations!! i truly think that in certain cases, it CAN be done.. while not in all cases.. and you said, the owner has 20 years experience etc.... there are few cases where i feel it can be done.. and this sounds like one of them.

Thank you, ME..it was a hard decision but I am convinced it was the right one. I think with the total lack of drive that both dogs have..it should continue to go well. This is how Kitten won Bailey over

Bailey doesn't look too impressed. He's trying to stay cool!

bailey is a GIRL purple.. not a boy

it should work out fine violet, with her experience and the older dog being a service dog, and kitten learning the ropes, plus both with no drive will help... besides, since kitten is learning baileys service stuff there will not be as much time for play as for learning.. this is great news for kitten...

Yay for Kitten!!! It sounds like this home will be perfect for her and if there ARE any problems, after 20 years experience they should know what to do!! Good job!

Kitten is nwo known as Saydee, has recieved her CGC and has started her trianing to be a service dog and is doing well. According to the trainer she is actually going to be a better service dog than the existing service dog because she is more in tune with her owner. She is also getting her limited registration to compete for obedience and so far, her name shall be Jo Libs Sayin It Like It Is Saydee CGC.

Not bad results so far for a stray, eh?
