Ok...I want to know where the parents were. People are so stupid they think if they leave the dog in the backyard with the kids everything will be ok. This poor dog is sitting in a shelter right now not understanding what it did. There has been over 300 calls to the shelter from people wanting to adopt this dog.

Six-year-old Manorville girl accidentally killed by family dog

(01/25/06) YAPHANK - A 6-year-old girl was accidentally killed by the family's Golden Retriever in Manorville Tuesday.

Police say Kaitlyn Hassard was playing in her back yard with the family’s 18-month-old dog, Jesse. The dog pulled on Kaitlyn’s scarf and accidentally strangled the girl.

The dog is currently at the Brookhaven Animal Shelter. There is no word on the fate of the dog.

Sorry if I should have posted it there. But that article proves even more the stupidity of the family.

It's time for a Golden Retreiver ban. Obviously the breed is smart enough to use tools to kill people now.

Wait...they left a 6 year old at home, alone, while they ran errands?

ya know... not to go against the grain of everyone else here... but as much as the whole situation totally SUCKS... how sad it is... and how stupid the parents were to leave a 6 year old alone and all that.... in a way i can see why the dog ended up at the shelter... its not that the dog did it on purpose... but some people just can't stand facing that painful memory....every SINGLE time they look at the dog. i don't agree with what was done... they should have tried to find a better solution than just dumping at the shelter, but in a way, even that was better than banishing the dog to a chain in the backyard so they don't have to deal with the dog and the memory. if so many people are interested, i'm SURE he'll be adopted

so sad :(
