while it does promote bsl, its also good, they are recognizing that there could be a potential disaster. alot of dog camps are like that.

I can understand what you are saying ME and I agree but it is also making the breed look negative and giving people more of a reason to think the bad things that they already do.

It should state "dog aggressive dogs" and leave it as that. On the other hand, SOME people who own this breed do need to be told that their dogs don't belong in a setting like that. I wouldn't trust the people that are paid to supervise the play group to know what to look for as far as pit bull behaviour.
There's a fine line between genius and insanity. I have erased this line.

I wonder what type of training they go through anyway. :|

It's irresponsible to be breed specific, especially a large, well-known corporation like PetsMart. They should have a non-dog aggressive policy, period. Frankly, it's up to the owners to know their breed well enough to understand Pit Bulls do not belong in daycare groups.

And to be even MORE frank, I'd never entrust my dog to PetsMart - lord knows who they have working there; only people with serious dog knowledge should be running daycares. PetsMart's jumping on every bandwagon possible. Doesn't mean they know what they are doing.

I did a puppy class there for Pudgy my male Shar-Pei. It was the most worthless waste of money I have ever done. The Instructer knew nothing about show dogs or the aspect of training one. In fact not even the pet part of the training was ideal or correct. I will never advocate their program or recomend the service to any pet owner. I would seek a real professional not some outline reader that owned a pug once ten years ago. I don't know much about daycare or the play deal your talking about but there were pit bulls in the training classes. I have never heard of daycare for dogs but then again I am a country hick and would not use it any way. My dogs stay with me and I have my own way of day care. They all help me on the farm in some way. Well one just barks at things. Son Shine barks at the wind but she is a big goofball of a dog. half pit bull and half something goofy. What ever the goofy part was is what she inherited. Big four year old goofy dog. Any way many people are racist to pit bulls. I don't know how your dogs act around other dogs but mine are trained to behave. Aggression is not tollerated unless we are hunting but not to people or other dogs. I use a time out spot and the no treats. I have never had to physically handle a dog for control issues. One blow on the wistle and every one sits and will not move. If I yell stop every one goes to the kennels and sits. I will say this you must keep command and maintain that you are boss at all times or yes you will have problems with fights. Never let them play unatended or during heats and puberty. Use common sense. It is very irritating when some one doesn't control their dog in public or at home. Then wonder why their dog or dogs get into trouble. Accedent waiting to happen! only if you let it be. These dogs are not untrainable to conform to rules and commands.

While BSL is definitely wrong, this is a good rule. How many times do we preach about pit bulls at dog parks? This is the same thing.

Frankly, it's up to the owners to know their breed well enough to understand Pit Bulls do not belong in daycare groups.

But how many pit bull owners actually know that? It only takes one pit bull that is involved in a fight to do some real damage to the breed's reputation.

And to be even MORE frank, I'd never entrust my dog to PetsMart

Agreed.
