Hi Sharon and welcome! Can you post some pictures?

How long have you had Simon? Have you trained him with hand signals or sign language

Ok...this is how I got into pitbulls...thanks for the welcomes by the way....

7 long years ago I was in my local petsmart...and there was a ad for a pittbell for sale....spelled just like that....I knew this dog had zero chance of finding a good home in that area.
So I called and then went to meet the puppy who was at the time 5 weeks old and ugly as all get out. I went home to think about it and I had this nagging feeling. I called the lady again and she said that if I did not come right then and there she would kill the puppy because he was stupid and did not listen. So I went over and saw the puppy laying on the ground whining...blood coming from his nose and a brick next to him. I scopped him up and went to leave but had to stop and pay the woman 40 bucks before I could have him. On the way to the vet I called the cops and the humane society.
Once at the vet the pup was checked over and kept for observation. He came home two days later.
At first his name was to be Oscar. But over the next week we realized wow he really is a dumb dog. It hit us....he cant hear....back to the vet....BAER test....he can not hear a thing and the vet thinks its from nerve damage. He doesnt think he was born that way. Over time we also came to learn Simon (Simple Simon) also has a partially paralyzed throat and he hacks water every time he attempts to drink so we have to make sure he has ice cubes. We can up with beef ice cubes and chicken ice cubes to make sure he eats them and gets his hydration. Once I had Simon I knew I needed to learn anything and everything I could. I hooked up with a friend who ran a pitbull rescue and became a foster parent and eventually took over the very very small scale rescue myself when my friend moved to CA.
I fell in love with the breed. However as most of you here probably have I have faced so much prejudice and fear and hate even because I have a pitbull. And some people I just can not talk to them and convince them pitbulls are not baby killers and they wont turn on their owners. Even with the best examples of the breed to tell people about they dont care.
Every now and again I have a small victory though...every now and again.

So before I talk your ears off.....if you go to http://www.ofoto.com
the log in name is Marylandpitchic and the password is shannon there is a TON of pictures there of my dogs.

Wow. Poor Simon. He is so lucky to have found you. So all of his problems were from being abused as a pup? He was only 5 weeks old! How much could he have possibly ticked that person off to make her abuse him so much? How is he doing nowadays?

What a wonderful thing you did by saving Simon! I'm sure at the time you had severe doubts, but it's all worth it now, isn't it?

Wow! What a story about Simon. I don't know how you held it together to not smack the woman when you gave her the $40.00. Thank goodness you saved him. Thank you for all you do for the breed.
