Animal Cops

So I'm watching Animal Cops San Francisco (my second most hated only to Miami) and they had 4 pit pups, all under like 7 months or so, that were taken from a fighting situation. They dog tested the pups. Two wanted to play. One was very dominant and pushy, and one was aggressive. They said that they would only be able to adopt out the two who played without being pushy.

Ummm . . . they're all puppies. The two who didn't show any dog aggressive behavior could EASILY develop it as they are both still very young. I don't understand the thinking in saying that these two must be put to sleep as they are a definite dog aggressive problem, and these two will be adopted out . . . even though they could turn dog aggressive as they got older.

Just perplexing to me.

SanFran cracks me up and pisses me ofsfs at the same time.

It's supposed to be this place of love and understanding but obviously pit bulls are expendable there. :nono:

Don't watch that crap, it'll drive you insane. I took Animal Planet off of my cable line up so I don't accidently get suckered in to watching it.

But you know what? It is NOT just San Fran, it is every where. ANytime the make a bust like that all the dogs are killed, whether there was evidence they al are fighters or not. Quicker way to eliminate the breed I guess. It is even done here where there IS no BSL.

Animal Precinct, the one in NY, isn't bad. They don't automatically put them down because they were "obviously being used for fighting." Most of the ones I've seen in NY adopt them out to fosters, or the shelter workers themselves take them home! The others drive me crazy though. But I'm a glutton for punishment, so I still watch.

Yeah Animal Precinct I love. They are actually an educated group of folks with a fantastic behavior team. And even though Michigan is quick to put pit bulls down, the officers are very well versed in what a pit bull ACTUALLY is, and what is and isn't a threat. But they tend to have to put them down because there is such a huge fighting problem in the city that there is a very good chance the dog would get back into the wrong hands.

But Miami and San Francisco drive me nuts. Houston seems to be half and half.
