Best $1.88 I've spent in a long time

Food, Fitness and how to keep them healthy.

Postby BullyVW » January 25th, 2006, 12:14 am

I had bought these for my sister's golden before, but never for my kids. Well, I picked up two today and they are SOOOOOO QUIET.

They are not the Merrick ones as Merrick pieces are really expensive. My local place has them loose for $1.88 an both bullies are going to town!

Oh, they are Natural Stuffed Twin Hoofers.....basically a cow's leg cut off at the ankle......

Yes, they love those!

Be care they don't bite off big sharp pieces and swallow them. Mine did that so I don't give them to her anymore. But it took her awhile before she decided to do that.

I get those too.

I have to keep an eye on them because the hooves can come of in shards.

Ah...I keep on eye on the dogs with most treats. No matter what the size, Ralph alwasy tries to swallow things fast so that Ghia can't steal them. So, now it's constant watch. I buy them a hoof all the time and never have had problems....but this is my first pair of double stuffed!

Unprocessed ones are reportedly good for your dogs....mine have had them since theny were young. You're the first person I've ever heard say that. Hmm.....they're just bones.

Yes, yes they are...and they stink to high hell.....but these guys love them. You have to see Ghia with this huge ankle.........it's like half her size and she carries it around in her mouth like a proud winner of a cheesey fair prize.

items my dogs will never get again:

pigs ears
rawhide
cow hooves(never had and never will)
anything rawhide/pig like
greenies
plastic bones

why? because they are all bad for your dog. rawhide takes 3 days to digest in a dogs system. dogs have choked on the rawhide pieces , gotten intestinal infections from the pieces not passing(both mine did, cost me over $1000 at the vet to fix them)

this is my personal opinion of these items.. if you want to give your dog something safe and natural to chew on a nice big marrow bone is the best route...

you can get marrow bones at your butcher at the supermarket or meat place... if the size are too small packaged, ask the butcher for a bigger one.. they cut them to order.. or if you use a butcher, ask him for a marrow bone.. they are safer to give to the dogs, and when the meat/marrow is all gone, put some peanut butter, cheese, whatever in the marrow bone, freeze in freezer for 24 hours, and wala, frozen treats!!!

Just wait.............hoove breath REAKS!!!!!!!!!!!!!! NEVER again will those stinky things enter my home! Munkee hid one in the sofa once & I tore my house up looking for the source of the stench. Ugh.

Emi, are there in Super Savers near you? They used to be Albertson's, some of their stores switched names. You can find some GREAT prices on cheap boney cuts of meat there.
There's a fine line between genius and insanity. I have erased this line.

The hooves are okay...just don't buy the cheap "processed" ones. The cheap ones are thin and cooked and will break off. Real ones are not "scooped out" and are smoked......so they're kinda like comparing cooke chicken bones to raw. I don't know...

Anyway, greenies my dogs love, but they're not worth the money for the worthless crap they are.

I don't do rawhide...Ralph tries to swallow it whole.

Nothing plastic, beyond a Kong, will last more than 20 minutes here anyway.

I give Kato raw marrow bones too. He goes nuts for them! :D

My no-no list is the same as ME's.

I just gave Kato his first bully stick yesterday. How does everyone feel about them?
