Hershey Squirts-do not read when eating.

Food, Fitness and how to keep them healthy.

Postby dogcrazyjen » May 25th, 2006, 3:25 pm

Tallulah got into the garbage the other day. Yesterday she pooped in her crate (a first in 3 years.) Last night she was up 3 times with the Hershey Squirts. Today she has really mucusy poops, soft poop wrapped in a thick somewhat opaque mucus.

I fed her normally this morning, but added a 1/4 cup pumpkin. Should I continue, or put her on cooked chicken and rice? This is day two of weird poop, normally she gets over these things in a day.

Seems like some have gone through this a lot, so I figured I would ask the experts!

I would fast her for a day, then do chicken or beef with rice for a day.

I agree....mucousy poops are indicative of large bowel....

Thank you for the lovely terminology. I can never eat chocolate again. :)

Brutus had soft stool for a week after getting neutered. I fasted him for a day and then gave boiled chicken and rice for a few days.

I was going to post on this very topic.

Dreyfus had it for a couple of days. Yesterday I used a syringe with a child attachment on it to give him pepto. He's back to normal in less then 12 hours.

The child attachment is awesome because the last time he shook and my kitchen was spotted pink. :)

Pepto, huh? I could try that. She is playing now but has been really lethargic today. Just layed on a mat in the kitchen for an hour, her head on her paws :( .

Although she did perk up enough to take her customary spot while I am chopping up veggies...right between my legs, so if any wayward strip of green pepper, or chunk of tomato, or slice of onion happen to fall they are all hers!

(yes I know dogs are not supposed to eat onions, but one or two little pieces are not going to hurt her.)
