Donald Brewer to serve one year in girl's death

The owner of the pit bull that killed a little girl last year gets the maximum sentence.

A judge sentenced Donald Brewer of Cabell County to 12 months in jail. Brewer pleaded no contest to misdemeanor involuntary manslaughter as part of an agreement. That agreement dismissed the same charged against his wife, Pamela Brewer.

2-year-old Arianna Fleeman died last May after an attack by the Brewer's pit bull. The dog was under a quarantine for biting another person at the time of her death.


The one year sentence won't take effect until September to give the defense time to appeal the case to the supreme court. Brewer remains free on bond.

Good I'm glad he's behind bars. How the hell was the dog able to attack the girl if it was under quarantine? Irresponsible . . .

Yeah that is a little confusing about the whole quarantine thing.

Poor little girl had to lose her life. How unfortunate.

It does need to happen more often. There is a bill here in Texas being proposed that would make owners responsible in cases like this. It's been a looooong time coming.
