Success!

When I was in Nola, I had gone to Avondale to do a reunion (that went horribly wrong, but that's another story altogether). While we were there, we saw these 2 boys in the yard next door:

Well, after months of trying and trying and trying to get SOMEONE to listen or help or SOMETHING, THEY WERE RESCUED LAST WEEK! The boys will be going to a fantastic rescue. There was a 3rd dog - mama - VERY pregnant - we're still working on a place for her, but the Jeff Parish SPCA (who has been, as an fyi, a DELIGHT to work with) has a hold on these dogs for us and will NOT let anything happen.

"Taz" was the dog w/ the failed reunion. He is a survivor of Katrina and EDNAH, and it is my belief that he came back to Nola just to show us these dogs....he is their angel. Sappy, yeah, I know, but otherwise, we'd have had no cause to BE in Avondale.

So........raise a celebratory glass at dinner tonight for these dogs!

:D

Well, the SOB owner has asked for them back. JP SPCA director has requested a hearing and that will happen June 8. OMG I can't even begin to fathom their lives back w/ him.

that is pathetic. i would fight it as much as possible... pictures, witnesses, vet reports, everything use to not let this person get these dogs back...

So cute, I'm glad they were rescued.

Isn't that 1st picture somewhere on the Dogs Deserve Better website? I can't find it but that pup looks really familiar.

:hammer: That totally sucks. It is escaping me why the owner would want them back. It is obvious he didn't care for them. What a :cuss:
Pit Bulls know they are THE face of extinction. All that remains is where they make their final stand. Say NO to BSL!

Who finally rescued them? I'm sorry, but the LASPCA is a total joke (& it was even before H. Katrina)

The Jefferson Parish SPCA is the group involved, and the group that seized the dogs. HSLA is involved as well. Both are being AMAZING to work with.

The court date has been set for June 8. With all the evidence and statements I've provided, they're confident the animals won't go back. The boys have had a rescue lined up since end of Feb / early March. It's the mama + pups we're working on securing a rescue for. Regardless, JPAS will NOT euthanize any of these dogs and will work with us to keep them there until we can get them out.

We're (hopefully) going to be sending out a petition today at some point. I will CERTAINLY post it here.

As for the "why" that SOB wanted the dogs....I'm guessing all he really wanted was the female because she's about to have pups = $$ He had initially asked for my blond boy (like he's really mine, but he's the one that's woken me up in the middle of the night for MONTHS) to be euthanized. JPAS refused that request.

I'm supposed to get updated pics from the JPAS director and will post links when I get them.

Thanks, all, for your support!
