NNY Bulldoggers first...

This is where to talk about Pit Bulls!

Postby Romanwild » May 23rd, 2006, 9:46 am

speaking engagement!

Myself, our VP (niemo) and our Treaurer (rwellsjr24) poke to a group of 15 kids at our local teen center Friday night.

We did a powerpoint on responsible ownership, animal cruelty, dog bite prevention, and the truth and lies about Pit Bulls.

This was some what tailor made for this group because there was an incident recently where one of the teen center kids fought his pit bull, let it kill a cat then tried to kill the dog, recorded it all then got arrested!

Anyway, it was a great way for us to get our feet wet and try to head off some future bad behavior that would harm pit bulls.

Our next event is a park clean up follwed by a cook out at our local park.

Very cool stuff!! How did the kids react to the presentation?

They had a lot of good questions and behaved pretty well for a 1 hour talk.

One of them wanted to know about spaying because his 8 month old pit was haveing her "period". lol

lol

Actually I did. lol

He's basically a good kid with no man around. The ones he has been around fight dogs for $30,000 a pop in NYC.

He was amazed when I had Dreyfus sit and speak. Freaked him out. Said he never saw a pit do that. :(

they start young charles, at the hospital saturday i had a 10 year old boy tell me everything about the pit, and fighting... 10 years old... why? because of who he hung out with, the locals in port jervis ny who fought their pits. he knew all the ins and outs./ the rules/ etc.... 10 years old... thank GOD though he loves the breed, and said that fighting was cruel and mean, and his family owns 2 pits now.. he learned early...

so the earlier you can reach these kids the more of a chance you can spark a light in their brains that its not good to fight them...

That's really great you did that. Was that video the kid made posted on here? I feel as though I remember seeing it...

This is great stuff.

That's the way to do it, Charles!! Sometimes as heartless as some of these kids seem, they just don't know any different.

Keep up the great work!! Reall great stuff.
