Oh MaryEllen , I wish ...

Earl has a wonderful job here in Houston which he loves ...

I go to a specialist now here in Houston have been for 3 years, it's just rather hard with the syndrome I got to loose any kind of weight no matter what you do ..

It took many many many years to be DX , then when I was the Dr's never treated me in Nebraska , I went another 10 years after being DX to even be treated and taken seriously ... it has been a long battle , and alot has happen ...

Earl has one of those funky PhD's and it's hard to find a job , you need to basically go to a big city ...

But we are trying all we can ...

I was on Weight Watchers a few years ago & did GREAT!! I NEED to get back on it because I have gained back the 60 pounds I lost. I lost it quick, was never hungry, ate healthy & felt GREAT. My brother & daughter were on it too & never even knew it. :D I went to one meeting, got the basics & did it on my own.

Also, you may want to try these videos. I am soo not into exercise anymore ( I used to LIVE at the gym), have bad knees & ankles so I have to be careful what exercise I do. No jogging, stair climbing, heavy weights or I will end up in surgery for my knee. I can't even wear heals anymore ( I broke my ankle one too many times) These are great, low impact videos that you can do in about 20 minutes a day. You can find them on Amazon or ebay really cheap too!

Best of luck to you!!!

1. eat no white food. none. most white food (with the exception of cauliflower) is not good for you anyway. it's an easy thing to get used to. I'm not big on pasturized/homogenized milk, but drink that if you want. dairy in very limited amounts.

2. eat more, not less. 5 or 6 meals a day. Little meals to keep your metabolism up. you will get used to it, and sometimes not be hungry for the next meal. eat anyway. 8, 11, 2, 5, 8 works for me and is an easy routine.

3. water water and more water. not coffee, not tea, not soup. water. 8 8 ounce glasses. the rest is bonus water. if your pee is not clear then you need more water.

4. restrict caffiene to an extent. one cup of coffee, one soda, whatever a day.

these are pretty much painless adjustments. I don't like the word diet, because if you just 'diet' when you go back to your old eating habits you'll get heavy again anyway. I guarentee you will notice more weight gone in two weeks.

No caffine  I don't think I could do it. I drink 2 pots of coffee in the morning and have a 3pm starbucks kick in the afternoon.

I just HAVE to echo ME's comment about stress! Stress can have such a negative effect on weight loss, so be sure to keep that in mind. A lot of people get so stressed out when dieting, they sabotage themselves.

Just to share a funny little story that supports this (and make you all hate me). About 8 months ago, I was going through a really hard time in my life. I was in a deep depression, very stressed and unhappy, barely eating anything at all. Now, you'd think I would have lost weight (I was really eating maybe once a day), but no. Slowly, I started getting better and about the same time, it just so happened that I had a bunch of functions to go to and really got into baking stuff, which meant I was eating cake very regularly. Like at least twice a week regularly. Would you know I lost 20lbs!!!! The stress was effecting me more than anything! :P

I thought this was going to be a "Diet Rules" like this...
Method :
1. If no one sees you eat something, it has no calories.
2. When drinking diet cola with a chocolate bar, the chocolate bar is cancelled out by the cola.
3. When you eat with someone else, calories don't count as long as you eat less than them.
4. Food used for medical purposes does NOT count, for example: Hot Chocolate, Toast, Cheesecake and Vodka.
5. If you fatten up the people around you, you will look thinner.
6. Cinema related foods have zero calories, as they are part of an entertainment package and not counted as food intake (this includes: popcorn, chocolate bars, maltezers, javas and slurpees).
7. Biscuit pieces have no calories because breaking up the calories cause leakages.
8. Foods licked from knives and forks have no fat, if you are in the process of cooking something.
9. Foods that are the same color have the same amount of fat (eg. spinach and peppermint ice-cream , apples and red jelly snakes).
10. Chocolate is like a food wild card. It can be substituted for any food color.
11. Anything eaten while standing has no calories due to gravity and the density of the calorie mass.
12. Food consumed from someone else's plate has no fat as it rightfully belongs to the other person and will cling to his/her plate. (Oh, how fat loves to cling.)
