I had limited crate space in the van for this weekend's flyball tournament. It was also semi-outside crating. So the short-coated dogs stayed crated in the van, and the Aussies (and Puzzles with double layers of coats on) stayed in the crates in the open-to-the-elements-building. It was around 30-40 degrees all weekend (very unexpected!) and it snowed/rained/sleeted on Saturday.

So on Saturday, I kept Stone (blind foster pit bull) and Flower (foster pit bull) together in one crate (in the van)...for warmth, as they were both FREEZING and shivering...even with coats on, and blankets in their crate. They were fine. They are good buddies, love to play together, and don't guard from each other in the yard when they're playing and such.

Sunday (today) rolls around, and it's a bit warmer...but only by about 15 degrees (up to 45)...but the sun is shining. So I kept them together in the crate again...in the van.

I go to get them out about half-way through the day (yes, they got out every two hours or so)...and they're both bleeding. They'd gotten in a scuffle while crated together...luckily nothing MAJOR. I just pulled out the first aid/vet bag, wiped the areas clean, syringed some peroxide into the punctures and gave them a chewie and put them in separate crates (where they proceeded to shiver violently again...). Both were typically pit bull stoic about getting their wounds cleaned (Stone has a puncture near his ear, Flower has one on her cheek and one on her leg). I'll be keeping an eye on the wounds of course, but nothing looks too bad...not deep at all.

So yeah, I'm stupid, and I got careless. :| Just owning up! lol

We have all done stupid things at some point. I took Sorsha out after Gator same as I do every day. After putting her back in her crate with her dinner I walked into the diningroom to see Gator standing in his crate with the door unlatched. That could have gotten very ugly. Yes I had heart failure.

You dumb crap. (and I say that in love)

I'm glad they are ok!!! We all do stupid things that we "know" we're not supposed to do. Mine border on legendary... "just let her off leash, he's always fine with females... Oh, um, is she bleeding?"

I hope everything heals up quickly. How did the tournament go?

Bash me all you want...that's why I posted it...:D Maybe someone else can learn from my stupid decisions! lol

The tournament went well...lots of good times from the dogs, lots of drinking by the humans. (we had to keep warm!)

:snicker: I do believe I remember that. And then when we BOTH stupidly said, "hmmm...maybe that was FLUKE. Let's try it again!" :crazy2:

And yep, Erin, super stupid! lol Glad everybody is okay though. :)
