Benzimidazole dewormers (albendazole, mebendazole) are known to kill trichinosis, but it's not something you'll find in your regular heartworm preventatives. It's more upscale dewormers, and those you get after your animal got diagnosed.
The directions, according to my parasitology book, is to freeze meat in less than 6 inches thick, and freeze it at at least 5F for 20 days, -10F for 10 days or -22F for 6 days... Not sure if anyone has such powerful freezers though, usually they're around 24F no?
I just also read that gamma irradiation also makes it safe.
