Yeah, we're watching...we're supposed to get heavy rain/storms this weekend. Of course we'll be 45 minutes away at a flyball tourney...hopefully our storm drain won't overflow into our basement again.

Irene is expected on Long Island Sunday 12 am. until 2 pm.

I heard a comment from a mayor, I think NJ...he was giving a news conference and told people on the outerbanks they needed to evacuate. Then he said something like: And if you chose not to leave after we told you to, please fill out an index card with your name, ss# and nearest kin, put it in your left shoe... don't wear flip flops. When we find your body, we will know who to contact.

While I did giggle A LOT at his sarcasm, I know it just makes it harder on the Police, Fire Dept., rescue medical teams, etc., to have to rescue those who were given evacuation orders and chose to stay.
My son's life will be put in danger because of them.

With that said, thank you to all those who will be out there, helping with emergencies and clean up.

Oh, and I am also thankful to the news people who are OUT in the storm so we can see how it will look when it gets to us. Sure, Missy and I love looking at Jim Cantore, but we also want him to be safe because of his dedication to reporting the storms.

Love your signature Joyce. Bob was singing this to me a couple of nights ago. I had never heard of it! He finally went out and found a youtube of it so I could hear the entire song.

Never a dull moment at our house

It's hitting here about now...wind and rain are picking up...we still have power...a small miracle, that!

6 am update from eastern Long Island. :wave2:

Rain and wind last night weren't horrible. Rain seemed to come from all directions, making it seem like less. Wind is picking up as I write. :) I haven't watched news yet, but last I heard Irene was expected here at 9 am.

Dogs are agitated, cat couldn't care less. :)

Apparently it is not even here yet. :giggle: It is in NJ.

Winds are definitely higher but at least it is not dark outside. Reports say winds are at 55 mph.

:P What I meant "dodged the bullet" is she is only a cat 1 or maybe less approaching Long Island, at least any wind damage will be minimal (fingers crossed). :)

Sounds good to me! Now I heard by 11 am, the worst should be over.

At least I had my coffee. :) Many in western LI have lost power and are getting flooded. I have no worry of floods from high tides.

We have no cable TV and the local broadcast stations have carried no storm news since 10:00pm last night.
Google isn't much help either >(

News is deceiving for my neighborhood because I don't have flood worries. Wind is picking up, but my 2 big trees have always been good to me, so I am considering one to be my Sentry and protecting me. :) Just thinking positive.
