FINALLY ..Sentencing Today

Everything that doesn't fit anywhere else!

Postby ArtGypsy » August 8th, 2011, 8:25 pm

As Most of you Know (from FB)...the killer was sentenced today, following our verbal 'Impact statements" to the court.

count 1. 2nd Degree Murder of Amanda Rahshay Thomas --LIFE
count 2. 2nd Degree Murder of Carl Patrick Eppley---LIFE
count 3. Armed Criminal Action, 25 years.

This means he will not be eligible for parole until he is at least 90.

We Were Told he will appeal.. but that the prosecutors did an excellent job, so there is pretty much 'no chance' the decision will be over turned.

We were Also told to expect letters to come within the next 6 months about his 'parole hearing', and not to be alarmed. Despite him not being eligible, they will still conduct the process accordingly. (?) :|

We Sobbed and Cried........
When asked if mc had anything he wanted to say, the interpreter answered "he sends his apology to the families"...he didn't even turn around.
I told the reporter when he asked me if I felt like mc's apology was 'sincere'.
I said "He gets nothing from me. Not my scorn, not my rage. NOTHING. Has taken Enough. He died the Day he Killed Our Children. "I will continue to honor her name by doing what I can to help the others; those still trapped in Terror"

I Wish I could say it's over, but there are no days when it's 'OVER.
This chapter has just ended; albeit a lofty-chapter-at-that. :(

Tomorrow morning Kelcie and I will begin our 520 mile drive back to Nebraska.

I want to thank you ALL, Once Again, For the Support and Love You've given me over the last 2 1/2 years.
The PBT forum-peeps have become family....

Oh Grace I am so glad it's over. This has been drawn out way too long and hopefully now you can start finding some closure by thinking less about him and more about HER and the other women you're now helping. :hug3:

You are one of the strongest, bravest women that I feel honored to call my friend.

Grace, be safe! As I said on FB, while there is no real justice for what he took from you, your family and Amanda, this is a tiny bit of justice on earth.

Grace, I don't have FB, so Missy told me last night about the sentencing. I am glad the justice system put him away.

I have no words of wisdom, as I cannot imagine losing my child to a horror like this.

Just know, I grieve with you.

My thoughts and heart go out to you and your family, and the family of the other victim.

Maybe some day, there will be justice for victims before the horrors happen.

Be safe.

He's paid his price down here on earth, but he'll also be judge else where.

That was unbelievably nice of you to remember that seven of us in the world, don't have FB.

Really, you are one of a kind, Grace. May you continue to receive all the goodness you continually give out.
