Big purchase, bad choice...

Everything that doesn't fit anywhere else!

Postby iluvk9 » June 29th, 2011, 11:07 am

My doggie door. :sad2:

I got the in-the-door patio style. Over $250. A friend installed it in December (?)

While I LOVE the product, I just uninstalled it and put it on Craigslist.

Here is why I feel I made an error in buying it: For my dogs lifestyle. :rolleyes2:

1) Darlene must be watched while outside. Because she is a vicious Pit Bull? No. She eats crap.

2) Harleybird, now on Mirtazapine to increase his appetite, is now Mr. Happy-Go-Lucky. He goes out and barks at the wind. Barks at the grass. Oh, and gets overly stimulated by birds and tries to eat them. He is jumping UP at them as they fly over the yard. I think he tried to climb a tree last week to get to one.

3)Truman. What can I say? He is JUST TOO BIG around his girth to comfortably fit through it. I have watched him go out and he literally gets stuck at about the ribs. Then he gets scared and frantically tries to get out OR back in. I bought the largest model. "Made for XL dogs." Apparently, I should have gotten a pony door.

I hate spending big money on something that doesn't work out. :(

That sucks. Hopefully you can get most of your money back.

Inside me is a thin woman trying to get out. I usually shut the bitch up with a martini.

I am offering it for $100. I figured someone who really needs it might benefit if they can afford it.

If you were closer, I would be adopting all the Black Labs that come into Clackamas Shelter, and probably would need the damn door. 8)

Well, I will be a lot closer in about 2 years.

So, it has been a few days now, without the dog door installed. Harley still "knocks" on that section, when he sees a bird outside, hoping the glass will somehow magically flip open for him. 8)

You went and did it now, you have given Diana two years to plan. She will have all the labs waiting for you at your new front door.

LMAO

Diana, I am thinking of west coast, but not too close to San Andrea fault. But definitely in a do-able driving or transport distance.

My son said we have must have the invisible sign on our lawn, that only dogs see: "Yep, this is the house!"

I wonder if it will follow me to wherever my new home is?

Harley (who has become a tad odd while on Mirtazapine) still insists there is a doggie door and stands "in front of it" and paws at it to try to open the flap to go out or come in. 8) Then he is sort of shocked when I open the glass door and he doesn't have to jump through it. He still has a little spring in his step as the "jumps" over the now imaginary doggie door.
