Joxer

Here is where we can discuss canine cancers and treatment options to create a support system for those dealing with the disease.

He's doing great! The lymph node is still about the same size and he's his usual dorky self.

Thought I would give a quick update on Joxer. He's definitely losing some muscle mass in his head, etc. There's really no way to tell if that's from the pred or the lymphoma. We ran some blood work and he's got some elevated liver values so we're going to put him on a couple weeks of milk thistle and recheck his labs after that. As far as Joxer is concerned he doesn't have The Cancer, doesn't know what The Cancer is and could care less about The Cancer! He's happy as ever and loved getting his blood drawn yesterday. :crazy2:

I think that's a pretty darn good cure ;)

So I have a super duper really bizarre update on Joxer. We had to take him off the pred a while ago because of a secondary skin condition. We were afraid it would cause the lymph node to grow and it sure did. While his skin cleared up, his lymph node became the size of an orange. Other than that he's been fine....good attitude and appetite and no other concerns.

A couple of weeks ago we reaspirated the node just to make sure it was actually lymphoma and it did indeed come back as cancer. Because his lymph node was getting SO big we decided to remove it surgically as none of this other nodes were enlarged. He came through the surgery like a champ and the test results came back as a totally encapsulated cancer that hadn't spread beyond any of the node itself or margins.

It looks like Joxer may have actually beat The Cancer. Being too dumb to know you've got it worked!
