Went in for a check lump at 4:40pm today and Buford is scheduled first thing tomorrow morning to have a mast cell tumor removed.

So Big B aka "The Howler" is home. He's a bit of a drama queen and they always ask me to pick him up earlier than they originally estimate. 
Last time they nicknamed him Jurassic because he sounded like a dinosaur.
The mass was pretty involved and the dr thinks he got good clean margins but had to go all the way to bone and tendon. They also removed four other lumps that were not a concern but were getting big. I figured since he was under already we might as well get that taken care of. He's got some clean toofers and is home and resting comfortably on the couch.

Poor old guy is pretty sore on that leg. He's got some good pain meds on board and he's definitely enjoying his rare couch privelidges. Surgery is hard when you're a ten year old big dog!

He's pretty ginger on that back leg when he first gets up but seems to get more comfortable as he gets moving around. Here's to hoping the hock incision stays closed this week end but I've got my vets cell number just in case.
Here's the big hock incision. The smaller incisions were made to help relieve the pressure and hopefully keep the incision closed. The mass kind of wrapped around his leg so was more challenging to remove and get good margins.
And then here's the incision from the upper thigh. This one is in a much better location for staying closed.
