I'm soo glad to hear he made it through surgery. Poor baby boy. I hope this clears up his poop problems.

That's great to hear!

FYI: if he eats nothing but i/d for a few days, he may not poop much at all.

he is home now.. he is sooo groggy its not funny. i have him in an xpen in the tv room for now, as he has a cone on his head. i am going to buy a cervical collar instead as the cone wont fit in his crate.. he is on chicken broth and beef broth for tonight and tomorrow , then the id cans. i have to pick up the antibiotics for the parasites tomorrow.. but for now he just gets pain meds... he was very very happy to see me, he jumped up when he heard my voice and ran out of the crate at the vets... then plopped down..

he has to be onleash in my yard from now on until the rock eating stage hopefully passes. if he has pica however, it will never pass and whoever adopts him must keep a close eye on him..

Poor guy...I am glad to hear that he is home with you....

I agree that he may not poop much on the ID....pretty bland stuff....most of which can be used by the dog's body....

I hope this solves the problem, and that he gets better!!!!

WOW. I never would have suspected that!

Your vet sounds like he has been really awesome with you and Arturo!

Let us know how he is feeling.

he is still sleeping. he woke up before for about 10 minutes, sat up, wobbled, and looked for me.. i gave him a syringe of chicken broth and water, and then he went back to sleep... i took his cone off as he is just sleeping, and its more comfortable without it. i will put it back on tomorrow morning before i go to work so he cant lick his stitches

Poor little guy, 2 hours under is a long time.

I hope this solves his problems. I didn't know he was from GA, your vet is right, there are different parasites there in the south. Coccidia and guardia come to mind first.

yeah, he is a georgia dog.. he was tested for both 3 times, and came up negative. the vet said another name of a long parasite that is a single cell one, and said it might be that, i have to pickup the medicine for that tomorrow as he had it at home and not at the office.. he said either that, or he has a pancreatic deficiency... he woke up 2times so far, and i gave him some chicken broth which he lapped up.. he is still zonked out, and very very wobbly...but he stood up on his own and drank some water too..

the vet removed 8 large rocks that were bigger then quarters. the 9th rock is moving thru his system and will be pooped out as its small..
he woke up a few times last night, sat up, then went back to sleep.. 2:30 am he woke up to go out to the bathroom, and walked on his own.. he is still being fed broth, tonight the vet said i can start him on the canned id food..
