WOOT! for Duke!

This is where to talk about Pit Bulls!

Postby hugapitbull » April 15th, 2011, 4:16 pm

I am so proud. Duke had his annual check-up today for shots, heartworm check, etc. He DID NOT have to be muzzled! :confetti: :confetti:

Two techs came in to give the shots and draw blood. The one I knew says, "I'll hold him, you take care of everything else" to the second tech. I asked her if she was going to muzzle him? She said she thought he'd be OK. She said she knew he had problems with his feet and being restrained, but she wanted to give it a try.

She held him and talked to him. He grumbled a bit when they did the blood draw, but didn't growl. We ARE winning the battle.

He's getting to be a big sweetie, I think he's been mistreated in the past. :cuss:

I think that is AWESOME!

I think this shows what can happen when you don't give up on them and keep working at things.

No offense meant, but not every jackass (and I say that with love) has been mistreated. Some just don't like what they don't like... and don't hesitate to let you know. I have one of those in my lap right now. But you are absolutely right - patience and a calm, firm hand will win them over. And a clear understanding that not every dog has to love everything all the time. :)

I'm so glad things are going better for you!!!!

I'm glad that things are getting better with Duke. Good for you guys.

I too have a JA. It's just what he is, no mistreatment necessary.

:lmao: :lmao: I laughed at this all day yesterday...

He is a very changed dog with Trouble gone. He's trying harder to be good and do what is expected. I know the possibility exists that he is just a jackass, but something just tells me he was mistreated, and it is something I'll never be able to confirm.

I have a JA. He isn't a people aggressive jackass, but he is in the sense that he has always tested his boundaries and when I think about having someone else care for him, I see that he is not an easy dog.
