The return of the Sharkfin (been a while)

Post your pics and vids here.

It's been forever since I posted Haley pics... she's 10 as of this winter, and though she's still wild as ever out in public (people never believe she's 10!), she's a bonafide couch potato at home. I drag her off the couch/recliner a couple times a day to eat/go out, and she goes to work with me most days, aside from that, trips to pet friendly stores (where she rides in the cart, since she has a hard time with slippery floors these days) and slow, lazy strolls into the backyard are about the extent of her activity, lol.

These start from around april '10...

It took about 5 full minutes for her to believe that if she put her foot up, I wasn't going to shove her overboard! Keep in mind this is the same dog who will nearly break all 3 legs trying to launch off that same bulkhead into the slippery boat unaided, try to get her near the water without a vessel for her to board? No way!
Image

We spend a lot of times on our little "walks" like this... her standing there staring at me as I try to convince her that she does have to walk to get back to the house.... she's certain that I should either purchase a teleporter for her, or carry her up on my back like a giant papoose.
Image

She can get up to a decent speed when she wants... stopping can be a little crazy!

She had facial paralysis on the left side last winter, and as it improved , the left side went from being super droopy to slightly "lifted" up, hence the smirk (she's fine now, though still a little higher on that side)

Two years, I'd have said without a doubt that she was cat aggressive, she'd tried to chew on our family cat, and expressed a large amount of interest in the neighborhood ferals... I've gotten 3 cats in the last couple years, and through a ton of work, she's gotten to be pretty tolerant of them! Wouldn't leave them unattended, and she still seems pretty interested in eating strange cats, but I couldn't be happier.

I love pics of her! She has the best wonky ears. And she doesn't look 10. :)

Haley is awesome! Of course, having a tripawd of my own, I'm more drawn to them than most. If you don't mind my asking, how did Haley become a tripawd, and how long ago?

Thanks!

I have a hard time believing she's 10, too... where did all the time go? She doesn't act 10 most of the time, so I can't complain. It's hard to see her stiff/sore more often, but thankfully she's never really been the most active dog, so I just let her do what she wants and give deramaxx when she needs it. She's still a major trouble maker... this morning at work, she first raided our trash (mostly paper and stuff), then found a box, and after deciding it was unsuitable as a bed, then shoving it in several co-workers' faces in greeting, shredded it to bits.

She's been 3 legged since she was 6-8 months old, a good samaritan found her wandering around with a mangled up, electrical taped leg, and turned her in to the vet clinic my mom worked at. They tried to save her leg, but it was too infected, so amputated it. I'd guess she maybe got hit by a car or caught it in a fence, she's not the brightest dog and she didn't have any other injuries that would indicate it was from a fight. We actually didn't get her until she was 2, a friend of mine adopted her shortly after her leg amp, then wasn't taking adequate care of her, so we took her over. It's not easy placing healthy, dog friendly, desireable breed dogs; nevermind a 3 legged, diabetic, animal aggressive pit bull; and we kind of knew taking her on that she'd be staying. She really is a terrific dog though, so I'd say everybody else missed out!

She clearly has a great life with you. Thank you for giving her the opportunity to be a wonderful companion. Trouble lost her leg to osteosarcoma at age 10. She's been hopping around for 27 months.

Her wonky ear is so adorable!!! And of course the kitties want to lay with her, we call the kind of blankets Haley has on her bed "kitty blankets" in my house, the cats are drawn to them like nothing else. :giggle:
