'96 Dodge Neon powers up normally when the key is turned on. When turning the key to start the engine, car clicks and loses all power (lights, radio, gauges). Believe that the starter is getting power as it makes a noise of sorts before the click and the battery tested good at the parts store. Doesn't seem to me that a bad starter would cause the car to lose power though?

I just replaced the coil pack/spark plug distributor/whatever it's called and the camshaft position sensor. Then this. :(

This was just happening in our Jeep! It ended up being corrosion in the wires to the battery. Eric replaced the wires and it is good as new!

clicking can indicate a starter issue, could also be the alternator in combination.

I soooo sympathize with car stuff, it sucks :(

Ding ding ding ding ding!! We have a winner!

My brother tested my battery again, fully charged. But the grounding wire and black wire were really corroded and not working. Thanks for this idea!! It's working again.
