Dash!

Postby BigDogBuford » March 14th, 2011, 3:12 am

Ok, so plan is for me to pick up Dash tomorrow. We hope to have him in for his surgery on Tuesday.

Dash update:

He's home with me now and already wrestling with Gimli again. He was so happy to see me he almost jumped into my arms! He has a surgical consult tomorrow morning at 9:40am and we're looking at possibly getting surgery at cost as early as Thursday.

He actually looks great and has put on another 4 pounds.

I know. We both teared up as I was leaving. Everyone just wants what is best for Dash and she feels he's going to need someone with more veterinary knowledge than she has. She's concerned that because of this genetic defect he's going to have things that continually pop up for the rest of his life.

So we had our consult. It's a very, VERY serious surgery with a very real chance of Dash bleeding to death so they are planning on a blood transfusion. The surgeon (board certified orhthopedic surgeon) feels that he stands a good chance to make a full recovery if he survives the actual procedure. He also agreed to do the surgery for whatever amount we had raised, which is about $3,000 less than he normally charges. Vets are consulting with each other right now and we should know the actual surgery date within 24 hours.

Keep thinking good thoughts!

I'm thinking Dash is a Fitzgerald.....cause otherwise I'm going to be grayer than I already am...which won't leave me much color.
