"Live" chat?

Is "Live chat" really a person or is it a computer that knows what you are typing and responds with set answers?

I have used it three times for companies I needed help from, and they always have names like: Jasmine, Yvette or Stanford. Never a Joe or Mary.

And they get so IMPATIENT with me as I respond to what they asked or said. They will send me a few "CAN I HELP YOU?" messages as I am still telling my story.

At the end, I always thank them using their names, but they never say "Goodbye, Joycie". :bye:

They are outsourced to foreign countries and mostly reading from a script.
Live chat support sucks.

At a company I worked for in the past I always got calls from the Dell collections department. Every one had names like Buffy or Stephanie or Phillip and it was so obvious that was not their names as they all had Middle eastern accents. Plus they were rude. So one day a Brittany called me & I took a message, I asked her at LEAST 8 times to spell her name for me & she never would. She wouldnt because she COULDNT. :devil:

That reminds me of a story about a student we had. Her Mom named her:

La - a

For those that CAN spell, that translates to "Ladasha"

When we took attendance for the first time, we say...LA A? Thinking it is just an unusual name. But then she would coarsely correct us.."MY NAMED IS LADASHA". Like we were the nutty ones.

I also have a girl who's name is AILSA. Again, Mom never did well in spelling bees. Her name is ALISA. Oops.

Nope...Mistake. A boy, so he can't even go by Missy.

I was in line for about two hours when I needed to get a new Social Security card. I listened to this woman yell at her kid the entire time "Marqwis stop that" "Marqwis some here" "Marqwis stand still" etc etc etc. Now, I spelled it exactly how she was pronouncing it. It was the weirdest name I had ever heard... until hours later I figured it out. Her kid was named Marquis - and she had no idea how to say it, so she sounded it out.

That's really sad. Just name him something simple, classic, like John, or Pete, or Dave. Nice names, and, they're easily spelled and pronounced! If you're not able to say your child's name properly... Then you shouldn't have named him that.

I just did a Comcast chat session yesterday morning that made me think of this thread.
My technician person was named Yoyie.

And one time, on the phone with customer service from HP, the guy told me to have a nice morning when it was actually nighttime here. I asked him where he was and he told me India. Then we chatted about the weather for a moment. I don't think they're really supposed to tell you, though.

And names-- my sister works as a speech pathologist in elementary schools and has a family of children whose legal names are Miss January, Miss Egyptian, Mister Jaquain, and Leslie. I think Leslie is the lucky one!

One more thing-- my BIL is named Chris and has an older sister named Kristen. Their younger brother is Pat. Poor Pat. He must feel left out.
