One of my degus is really sick...and I'm not taking him to the vet. I mean, I don't have the money, and the only exotics vet is over an hour away. So I feel guilty, as usual when I see one of my small pets really sick, but there's only so much I want/can do.

And of course, it's not my really old degu (who's around 5 or 6 years old), but my young not-quite-two year old goo.

*sigh*

Sorry, Erin. Is there anything you can do to help him/her at home?

Besides keeping him warm and comfortable...not really. They don't like being held/petted...so I'm just making sure his room is quiet and warm.

Any idea what's wrong with it?

How long do you think a Golden can sit outside in the snow when it is 25 degrees? :popcorn2:

Lenny WILL NOT COME IN. I have begged, cajoled, offered snacks, taken the others out to walk in with him, and called him in the sweetest voice I could muster up.

Would it be wrong to let him freeze out there? Honesty...I am DONE. :nono:

Joyce, how long did he stay out there the other night? He must really like the snow and obviously it doesn't bother him. You are having a crazy time with them all right now. But of course our Precious Darlene is perfect. I love her.

Well, of course Darlene is the perfect one. :)

The other night he stayed out 45 minutes. This time it was an hour and a half. I had DIL come to den door, which had them all barking and Lenny came in to see what was going on. :rolleyes2:

Here is another confession about him: I yelled at him, "You Prick! Stay outside if you want!" And I gave him the finger.

After I posted, it occurred to me that you might not find it so funny. It's only funny because I've totally done it... on more than one occasion  . I love 'em, but they know how to push my buttons.

He won't freeze to death. He has a lot of hair and if he was truly cold he'd come in. Maybe get a couple blankets and put them down for him to sit on. Some dogs just like cold. :|

Not that kind of pallet. A pallet made of blankets. Something for him to lay on. Nevermind the moment has passed. It doesn't sound funny anymore. :rolleyes2:

My "little" Ollie dog likes the cold too. She is about 12" tall and the shoulders, we had 10 1/2" inches of snow on the ground last winter & she tromped around in it like she knew what she was doing. We have a couple inches of ice on the ground right now & she wont stay in the house.
