Joxer

Here is where we can discuss canine cancers and treatment options to create a support system for those dealing with the disease.

I didn't want to say anything until we knew for sure but we had Joxer's lymph node aspirated again because it was getting bigger and he's been diagnosed with lymphoma. I just got the news and don't quite know what to think other than it sucks.

I'm so sorry :( Did the vet give you any idea of treatment options?

I won't do chemo on a ten year old dog so we decided on pred as comfort care and Chinese herbs to help support his immune system.

The vet said we can expect two to six months.

That really stinks. Still being fresh on losing my Wally: take this time to just spend lovely days with him. Trips out, days in, whatever he wants. Just make it wonderful for the both of you.

Don't give up hope, though-- even with a "2-6 mo" approximation. I've seen lymphoma dogs on prednisone live happily much longer than that.

Sending much love.

Crapola. :(

Carlos Garcia had lymphoma and the prednisone kept him eating, chubby and happy as hell.

I'm hoping he's just too dumb to know he has cancer. He is the happiest dog in the world after all.....

Well, that just sucks! I know treatment is a personal decision and I respect your choice. Just want to remind you Trouble was 10 when she was diagnosed, and with chemo is doing well (except for the arthritis). They truly don't know they have cancer and take each day one at a time - and so should we when dealing with it.

I would be happy to never hear another of our beloved pets has a cancer diagnosis. Maybe one day.
