NCCF Bark and Bowl

Everything that doesn't fit anywhere else!

Postby plebayo » January 9th, 2011, 3:30 am

Hey guys, the National Canine Cancer Foundation is hosting a bowling event here in Portland. I have been trying to volunteer with the Portland Chapter and the gal contacted me back in december but with everything that happened with Sofie I told her I couldn't quite commit to anything. She contacted me again recently and told me about this event and I am totally down to help out.

My sister and brother in law are coming to help us set up and I am told there will be 300+ people at the event. I was hesitant to start a team because I was not/am not sure I can raise the $500 required but the gal in charge of the chapter said I could start a team regardless of what is raised.

So, we are Team Sofie and we'll be bowling her memory! [And of course in memory of all our PBT heros!].

All of the money raised goes to the NCCF for grants for Canine Cancer research.

I have set up a ChipIn Fund:

You can also donate directly from the Bark and Bowl page:
http://barkandbowl.com/team-sofie-p-560.html

The money raised will go directly to the NCCF and be put to good use. Thank you very much for letting me share this with all of you, if you can spread the word great :D

Thanks to all of the support from friends who gave me $130 in donations. Tonight we're bowling for our cancer heroes! I hope Sofie is watching over me, I'm gonna need some bowling support :p

Tonight will be a fun fun night!

The event went really well! We had a great time and raised quite a bit of $$. I got to meet some really cool people and super, super nice people who were also volunteering. I look forward to participating with future events [there's talk of a walk which would be awesome!]. think over all tonight was a huge success :)

So I got an e-mail with the numbers and we raised almost $7,000! I think that's pretty sweet for a first time event!

The chapter president has plans for more fundraisers and says there are several dog events she wants to go to this year. I am going to help out when I can.
