You should aim to feed her for the weight you WANT her to be, not where she is now.

Feeding her once a day is not making her fat, over feeding her is making her fat. No worries, we've all done it. And I would stick with once a day personally, if you cut her food back and freeze it into the kong, it will take a while for her to eat it, giving you plenty of time for studying!
