%*$%$ vague ingredients......

Food, Fitness and how to keep them healthy.

I was looking up Lixotinic for the Grow Hair on a Doorknob recipes, and ever mindful of Allergy Child I checked the ingredients, only to see this:

Ingredients:
Corn Syrup, water, sucrose, glycerin, liver paste, iron proteinate, sodium citrate, caramel color, citric acid, niacinamide, potassium sorbate, cyanocobalamin, thiamine hydrochloride, pryridoxine hydrochloride, riboflavin, cupric sulfate, anisw flavor, sodium hydroxide.

Liver of WHAT?

:nono:

Not sure I care enough to email them, but I have seen this type of thing a few times, ingredients should be more specific!

I'm allergic to a bunch of fruit. Nothing annoys me more than when bottles of juice list 'natural and artificial flavors' or 'fruit juices'.

Yeah, but which fruits?!

:rolleyes2:

And I'm guessing the sugar is to make it palatable to the dogs...I'm trying to figure out what's actually *good* in here. ;)

I'm allergic to sulfites, which are in SOME caramel colorings...but according to FDA rules, they don't have to label/number the different caramel colorings, or list which is in the food/drink. :bs:

I have no idea what's good in it, I just know that it works. sorry :|

And I'm with you on the allergy stuff. I have a horrible reaction to MSG in food, but it's legal to put it on a label as: MSG, hydrolyzed (anything) protein, Autolyzed yeast and about 10 other ways. The food lobby is trying to get the FDA to approve removing it completely because according to the FDA, MSG consumed in food does not cause reactions.
