Opinions: Small dogs and your pit bull

This is where to talk about Pit Bulls!

It doesn't bother me at all because I always assume the the human on the other end of the leash is an idiot until they prove they have some dog common sense.

I actually prefer it because it means that some obnoxious little 10lb. ball of fluff that thinks it's a Great Pyrenees isn't going to charge up into Birdie's face an nip her on the flews.

Yes, that has happened.
No, she didn't bite or growl at the other dog.

But I sure as hell made THAT dog owner know of my extreme displeasure and he slunk out of the playground with 10 kids under 5 giving him dirty looks & saying how BAD that little white dog was. So much for his bright idea of using his dog as bait to hit on the Moms. :rolleyes2:

When passing other dogs, I tend to gauge the other dog from a distance and either put Birdie on the other side of me or have her sit if I think there might be a problem.

The weiner continues to be absolutly adorable!

I would judge by how the person acts towards me. I usually say hi to other dog walkers. Especially if I'm by myself.
Maybe THEIR dog bites other dogs and they're just making sure it doesn't bite my dog.

I'm hearing a lot of "gauge the reaction" of the other dog...and that's my trouble...I did watch the big bully dog in this case, and he was sitting, and seemed to be under control of the owner...who saw us approaching. We couldn't cross the street easily either, without going back the way we came and getting to a crosswalk...(it's a busy mainstreet where people usually don't want to slow/stop for people in the crosswalks either). It wasn't till we were right near the other dog that he made his move and lunged and growled. Until then, he was just sitting quietly and wagging his tail.

Because yeah, usually I can judge dogs pretty well...lol

well, you can only do what you can do :|

I prefer to be prepared for other dogs who act obnoxiously with Oscar, but sometimes it can catch you off guard.
I can only please one person per day. Today is not your day, tomorrow doesn't look good either.
