My sister has a dog door that is actually for her small dogs [she has a cairn terrier, papillion, and a chinese crested] I showed Seth that he could go outside through the door, and once he really figured it out LiLo learned she could go through it too. We've stayed there enough times now that they just go out on their own. They'll pick it up in no time, once at least one of them builds some serious confidence about it I'm sure the rest will follow suit no problem.

I got it so Truman would MAYBE stop waking us up at 3 a.m. to go sit in the backyard and...well...just sit there. I don't have many small animals willing to come into my yard because of the dogs. Except that opossum Lenny brought me and the rabbit Darlene puked on my bed.

I would never leave it open when I am not home, which is probably why many people even get them.

Missy, his sides just squeeze through, but he does it.

Ironically, Harleybird is using it often. For a dog that is glued to my side, he goes out, then comes in to find me, then goes out again.

Too funny. I have a dog door and love it. The pony will soon figure out he really likes it too. My sons Boxer likes it too much..in and out and in and out and in and out and in and out. I find myself telling him to pick, like he can hear me

Well, Darlene has "bounced" in and out all day long. Harleybird fits PERFECTLY...and continues to check in with me to make sure I am still inside. Lenny is cautious when he steps down, like he isn't sure there is a floor on the other side.

And then there is Truman. Truman just isn't sure yet.

I am soooo bad at the clicker thing. I attempted it with Lenny a few months ago with his refusal to drop things of value. We got no where, my fault. I even looked for a local "clicker trainer" class for me, because it is definitely me that needs it. Either they are 45 minutes away or they cost a small fortune.

Don't feel bad, I can't master that stupid plastic thing for love or money. I took Birdie to a class and was so proud of myself that I was "getting it."

Then the trainer burst my bubble.

She said Birdie understood the click and was doing what I was asking her to despite my bumbling clicks.

To demonstrate, she had me work with a dog that had to be cued just at the right time with the click.

FAIL! and HUGE FAIL!

So I use a verbal marker. Mine sounds like Minnie Mouse is saying "Gud Goo"
