Thoughts needed

Everything that doesn't fit anywhere else!

Postby call2arms » December 4th, 2010, 1:49 am

So my grandma has been in the hospital for 2 weeks, she fell, hurt her back... After some more investigation she fell likely due to a brain aneurism, a cerebro-vascular arrest, and a pneumonia. To win grandma lotto, she contracted c. difficile in the hospital and has had emergency surgery this morning to remove most of her intestines. She's in intensive care right now.

I don't know what she has too look forward to if she makes it through this, it's not likely that if she survives the post-op stage she will ever get out of the hospital, but hey. If you guys can spare some good vibes for her it would be appreciated.

Good thoughts for Grandma.
I can only please one person per day. Today is not your day, tomorrow doesn't look good either.

OH......I am SO SORRY to hear this..... :(

Joyce made an excellent suggestion. Please.
Do that.
Whisper that you have a lot of friends who are praying for all of you. Her and your family.

thanks again for the toughts and prayers. again, PBT magic makes it's work.

i went to see her today. she's off the respirator, but terribly thin and weak. she wasn't recognizing me, and it didn't seem like she understood what we were telling her, but she had just got a shot of morphine. she's not out of the woods yet, but the most critical 48 hours are over. it's just hard to see her like that, she's usually so proud, now she's stuck with a bag instead of a colon and no dentures, if she saw herself, she'd just be horrified. tough cookie for living through all this.

i believe that it's just ridiculous - she caught both pneumonia and c. difficile in the hospital. might as well stay home. we had to gown up and wear gloves to enter her room.

That's great that she's off the respirator! Baby steps...

And I understand about how she'd be horrified if she saw herself - when my grandmother was in the hospital, and when my stepdad's mom was in the nursing home, we made sure that somebody (nurse or family) would at least brush their hair and put a little foundation and lipstick on them. Both of them appreciated that little touch soooo much.
