No one has any thoughts on this? I thought it was great...

I think its great, too, but I wonder if the Law enforcement people that need it most will attend the training?
Its too bad there wasn't a way for there to be a small section in the initial Law Enforcement training courses for this...

But, I still think its good. There can be a balance between the safety of people and the safety of dogs.
I can only please one person per day. Today is not your day, tomorrow doesn't look good either.

I think it's fantastic, but as Demo and/or I posted in another thread, there's no money for our basic safety training - firearms, unarmed self-defense, etc. We used to get firearms and self-defense practice quarterly - now we get one practice and one test. It's a joke. They're taking training and equipments away from us that I'd like to see come back before we get dog training. In the 6 1/2 years I've been with my job, only 2 of my coworkers had to shoot dogs, and both dogs had been "sicced" onto my coworkers. Yet countless number of people have required self-defense and/or pepper spray to protect themselves. So in this economy, prioritizing has to happen.

That being said, I friended LEEDS on Facebook because I think it's a great idea, just a pipe dream right now.

I think it is a good idea from the point of view as "a regular dog owner". I have always respected the police, the firefighters, and others who have these tough jobs of protecting or serving the public. I am sure there are many people who were raised the same as I was.

If one of them had to forcibly enter my house because they thought there was a situation that was putting me in danger, I actually would INCORRECTLY assume they "knew how to handle everything", including my dogs. That would mean a snarky Golden and a big ass Labradork.

Do they charge for their services?

Hmmm...not sure if they charge or not. Not sure how they'd fund their travel and everything, but it would be even awesomer (yep, that's a word!) if it were free!
