DEBATE: DO YOU AGREE WITH THIS UNWRITTEN RULE?

Everything that doesn't fit anywhere else!

"Women are not to wear white shoes after Labor Day."

:bs: Why not, I ask? If I have an outfit of 'winter white' on, I NEED to wear winter-white/off-white heels! I have a great off white sweater, and off white pants. Are "they" expecting me to wear black shoes? If I wear red, I will look like a classy hooker.

I can understand if they are strappy, heeled sandals. Then I think it is the wrong season for them, but come on....Some outfits DEMAND white, off-white, light beige, etc. shoes AFTER LABOR DAY.

What do you think??? Men are also asked for their input on this issue.

I don't bother with the rule, because I don't own white shoes at all...;) They get too dirty in my line of work...and I avoid all white shoes, sandals, sneakers, etc.

But I think you should wear what you want...8)

Heels. What are those? lol

Yeah, I don't pay any attention whatsoever. I wear white sneakers pretty much year round. Oh no, fashion feu paux! (I have no idea if that is how you spell that.)

Sneakers don't count in this rule, says "they" who made the rule.

Liz, how about when you go out? You must have heels for some of those outfits.

I think that's a 'dead' unwritten rule.

But then again, I don't have white shoes.

Those fashonistas on that show..."What Not to Wear" have enforced this rule, I think. 8)

Winter white is not white. That's why it's called "winter" because you "can" wear it after labor day.

As I'm learning from the catty bitches on the Knot website, etiquette rules are there for a reason and who are we to question the rules? (insert eye roll here)

http://shoes.about.com/od/shoe_tips_adv ... or_day.htm

btw...I did a search on "white shoes after labor day" on the TLC site (what not to wear)...and received in return, a bunch of videos labeled "giving birth", "placenta", "great white sharks" etc...all from Discovery Health. Guess you can't wear white shoes while birthing your baby or swimming with sharks... :|

But they would have been nude, not white, right?

I don't own any white shoes, but if I did, I would totally wear them after Labor Day! Being the walking fashion horror that I am (purple tennies with every outfit, year round???), fashion rules just go over my head, lol .

I don't care what people color, or shoe people wear on their feet at anytime of the year... That said, as long as they FREAKING FIT for the love of god ~ it isn't that hard!!! ***Shudder***
