Moisturizer?

Everything that doesn't fit anywhere else!

Postby pitbullmamaliz » October 29th, 2010, 8:33 am

Girls, I'm in need of a new moisturizer as this dry colder weather is sucking the will to live out of my face. I have rosacea so I need something gentle. I would prefer something with SPF already in it as that would be one less thing I have to put on my face every morning (already have to put on rosacea medication). Currently I'm using the Cetaphil lotion that has SPF 50 in it. Neither it or the regular Cetaphil are sufficient. I'm willing to splurge a little but really don't want to spend more than $20 or so until I know if it's going to work. Thoughts or preferences?

Waiting to hear...I resorted to body butter last year, as nothing else kept me from drying out...and it didn't make me break out (I just finished up a face-wide rash because of some new product).

Is that a lotion or makeup? Do you normally have dry skin?

Oil of Olay has a really good sensitive skin moisturizer that's inexpensive -- "Active Hydrating Cream, Sensitive Skin Formula". I think it's about $8 at Target. I don't remember if it has SPF or not and I don't have a tub to look at. The woodstove dries the hell out of my skin and hair and I also have roseacea and sensitive skin. I use the Olay as back-up or "extra help" when my skin is drier than usual. It's too rich for my skin to use every day. Normally I use the MD Formulations, but the moisturizer is about $85, so you may not want to spend that before you find out if it works, LOL.

Lately because my hair is so long, I oil it to help with the dryness and that *really* works well. I use WEN's Lavender Oil in just a tiny amount and no more dryness and fly-aways.

I really like the cetaphil cream or aquafil to be honest. Both really help with dry, chapped skin.

Jen, thanks, I'll look for the Oil of Olay stuff.

Jenn, I'm currently using the Cetaphil and it's not enough.

You said lotion so I assumed you were using just that, the lotion. There is a cream too and it's much thicker! I don't like the lotion at all.

Lubriderm. I lube my face up with it everyday right out of the shower. This is the one I use:

There are different varieties with sunscreen and stuff in them. I started using the above one years ago on the advice of my tattoo artist and I haven't gone anywhere without my bottle for 15 years.

Rosehip seed oil and pomegranate seed oil are very good for skin conditions. You might want to pick some up and just add a tiny bit to your current moisturizer. That way you can add a bit of extra moisture without trying to find whole new product which may or may not work for you.
