Sinonasal Carcinoma

Here is where we can discuss canine cancers and treatment options to create a support system for those dealing with the disease.

I remember when I just wanted her to make it to 13 last year, I can't believe she's going to be 14!

WoW :confetti: Awesome milestones! You've done a great job with her this past year. Keep kicking butt, Miss Sophie. Show them what an 'old' dog can do.

Apparently I spoke too soon.

:(

Sofie had a weird episode last night where she pooped in her kennel at work, which never happens. I moved her to another kennel and she vomited. I cleaned that up and then she had diarrhea everywhere. I've noticed her urine doesn't seem as concentrated as it should either so I pulled some blood and ran a BUN/Creatinine.

Her BUN was 80 [high end of normal is 27] and her creatinine was 3.8 [high end is 1.8 I think].

We are putting her on fluids for the weekend, we will recheck values on monday. she is on canned k/d and if her values do not improve we'll need to make further plans.

Thanks. The whole scenario bites. We've had several kidney cases as of late, all dogs, and they just don't seem to handle it as well as cats. On x-ray Sofie's kidney's have shrunk significantly, they're about half the size they should be :/ lame.

Hugs to you and Sophie! Hang in there....sometimes because YOU know "too much" about medical stuff, you may over think results and scenarios.

Thank you everyone for the support. I appreciate it so much.

First night on fluids went well. She did better in the kennel than I thought she would. She is eating the canned k/d surprisingly, the stuff doesn't smell like much but she seems to like it. She did gain about a pound but the doctor on today said she felt that was pretty normal, she probably gained back what she lost in fluids and I'll just weigh her twice a day [till monday] to make sure she isn't retaining fluid. She seems to be perkier... hopefully this means the values will go down. I'm not sure - if the values go down what exactly the plan will be, how much time we'll have etc.

All that matters is that she has been well loved and cared for, no matter how much "time" she has.

Thanks for the reminder :hug3:. I also totally agree about knowing way too much and over thinking things. That's kind of where I'm at now.

Just a quick picture of Sofie while she was at work with me today. She looks pretty good for feeling like poop!

Ugh the little poop disconnected her t-port [part of the IV line]. I think the catheter is still in, I flushed it with 9cc of fluid and didn't see anything get puffy. Hopefully it's still in... had to re-tape everything with masking tape and vetwrap.

Anyway - I'm kind of reminiscing and listening to music to make a video for her [when the time comes]. Looking at old pictures, crying... just wanting to share - I am so completely stressed out.

Sofie raised both Napolean and LiLo. I really think she made Napolean the dog loving cat he is today.
