Dog #523

Postby Sue » May 10th, 2006, 12:35 pm

This old girl was euthanized today at the Hartford Pound in CT - even though there was a rescue that was going to pick her up. Sherry works so hard to save these dogs and because of one asshole, who doesn't give a crap about them, she lost her life.

Do you think he did it out of spite? Sounds like a man who tries to put these dogs down way too fast.

Of course he did. He put down a chi last year that had a home lined up. He was TOLD that the dog was being adopted... He doesn't like Sherry and does anything he can to make her life and job a nightmare. His brother is also an ACO in a different town and he's the same way.

I'm so sad about this.

The same thing happened to me with the same pound, right, Sue?

A protocol needs to be put in place so dogs who are spoken for are not put to sleep unneccessarily.

Yup. He knows that Sherry coordinates all the rescues and adoptions - because no one else gives a crap, don't return phone calls, are rude to the public.

I was so broken-hearted. I wasn't even just a foster---I was going to adopt him. We had told my kids, showed them a picture and everything . . . it was such an awful, sinking feeling . . .

I will never understand how people can be so heartless to take a life out of spite.
