"Blink" born with No Eyes...

Postby ArtGypsy » September 22nd, 2010, 11:28 pm

Okay.
I am heading out to Gresham Nebraska tomorrow to Meet and Take some pictures of "Blink", a one year old, intact female pit bull that needs a new home.

Owner is having another child and just cannot handle Blink, the other 3 dogs and cats.

From what I've been told, Blink isn't good with cats, but it sounds like a 'energy' problem rather than an aggression problem; Blink doesn't get much exercise because she is tied out in the yard 'most of the time' because she 'can climb out of her kennel. (I guess it needs a 'top') .
The owner said "I don't think she wants to hurt them, she just wants to play and gets too rough'.
Is 'great' with other dogs and kids...........

The father and mother are owned by another member of the family; (after having 16 pups :cuss: ) and is now dog aggressive.
This owner also says she is afraid of the father and he will probably have to be 'put down'.

SIGH.

I guess this woman, (present owner) insisted that the original owner (her sister?) "has stairs and the poor dog kept falling down them". :(

This owner says she wants a really good home for Blink, and wants to meet any new owner. I explained how interstate foster/adoption works.
At least she cares enough to hold on to Blink for a while longer and really really wants a good life for the dog.

So.
*deep sigh*.
One of the first things is to get Blink to the vet...........spayed and see if she's up to date on shots.

I'll post pics once I get back home.

 :sad2:

I'm glad they are willing to adopt her out, at least... and before she has puppies herself.
AND I'm glad you're on this... dogs like that definitely need an angel to swoop in and help them out. :D :hug3:

I wonder why 'blink'? I mean...I get the reference to eyes, but 'blinking"?

I'll ask this morning, when I make the drive to go see her....

She is SO SWEET.....a tiny bit hyper but calms down pretty quickly.
I can only imagine how quickly she would respond to click/treat!!

She DOES go beserk when she smells the cats though.....whew....

First, before I can even do much else, I'm getting her spayed and her fleas treated....I cant' even think about fostering her until then.

She is beautiful! Have you felt enough of her personality to give her a nice name?

Not Yet, Joyce...........
I just tried to breathe through the smell and the 'story' about the other AGGRESSIVE momma-pit in the garage with 4 puppies .
Apparently, a 'friend' who 'wanted to make some money and didn't have a clue as to what they were doing' had these puppies because (and I quote) 'we can sell these puppies for 1000.oo in OMAHA..(uh excuse me?)
and now there's a human/dog aggressive mother chained in the garage with 4 babies.

I just need to get this one out........

Thanks for the encouragement, Matt!

I might have a little more faith in myself if I had experience with MY DOG first, LOL...

Lol, don't stress about it too much. I worked with a blind dog for a while at the shelter and it was amazing to see how acute her other senses were. She got around really well after a few weeks and her face lit up when she heard the clicker. Lot of fun to work with

Okay, Just talked to Vet....
Can't get her in til Tuesday to get spayed....

They ""know'" this family, and YES, the family owes them a 'ton of money' and 'always' have sick dogs no one will pay for...

Apparently our little girl has already been brought in by a neighbor in the town, because she was found wandering loose...

HOW PITIFUL IS THAT?? A BLIND LOST Pup??? :cuss:

Sounds like half the city of Rochester pet owners. Of course some could argue I am being generous with that number.

She's gorgeous!! I love her coloring. I vote for some chocolate reference name like Coco. :D

In your pictures it's easy to tell she has a LOT of personality.

Thank you so much for helping this little girl. Now who is the HERO??????

BTW, she looks small for one year old so that should make her easy for you to handle!

She IS small......and bonier than she looks in the pictures.....
In drastic need of a good diet. THAT'S for sure....... :sad2:

AND HAPPY! She was like any other excited pup...cept when she hears/smells,she goes barreling through, knocking over everything in her way...
((like the owner's glass of juice, all over the cell phone))...

Sounds like the boys at my house... and they CAN see... :rolleyes2: :giggle:

Is she even used to being inside? I bet once she has some structure and a daily routine she's going to adapt amazingly fast.
It took Luka about a week to realize that one has to go around the furniture instead of expecting the coffee table to move out of his way... having been an outside dog for most of his life, everything inside was a completely foreign concept to him. lol

I'm not sure she's even housetrained.
The woman said "she only messes in her kennel when she's in it too long" -----

while I was there, she squatted and started to Poo on the carpet.....

a routine would help that too....
