Spare Parts??

Food, Fitness and how to keep them healthy.

Postby airwalk » August 4th, 2010, 6:25 pm

I'm beginning to think that Doogie was made up of all the spare parts left over after the rest of the litter was put together. Or...I need to build a warehouse of spare parts to replace the ones on him that keep giving out.

Last couple of days he's been heavily limping on right front...today even worse. I was hoping for a ligament strain...beginning to think maybe not.....CRAPOLA!!!!

So anyone got a spare front knee they could send over?

He could have Seth's... Seth's got a bad elbow, we could amputate the leg and donate the front knee!

Poor guy! Here's hoping he just strained something really bad... did you check his nails/feet? I've seen some dogs act pretty gimpy/like they're dying when they've torn a nail or hurt a pad. If that's all it was it would be easier to fix! No parts replacement necessary!

I would love to send some spare parts to Doogie... but we're fresh out.

Poor pupper - it just never ends for some dogs, does it??? :(
Sending many, many good thoughts his way, and crossing all fingers and paws that it does turn out to be "just a bad sprain". :hug3:

When will you know for sure?

Oh Doogie, please just have a bad sprain. Now go lay down and rest and get all better so your Mommy will not have to worry so much.

All of ours are broken too...(well, except for Score)...so we can't spare any...sorry! Breakdowns seem to be happening with more frequency lately...we need a doggie AAA.

But as with the others...lots of good thoughts to both of you!

Doogie! You need to be fine, just a little muscle soreness, or something easy like that.

Sending good thoughts.

Well we are waiting for the e-vet doc to call. Radiographs (initially) show arthritis and some small bone fragments. Hoping for crate rest and potential steriods...truthfully anticipating more surgery if I'm lucky...not wanting to hear...nothing we can do.

My puppy is a mess.

Nope no bashing...congential. Basically, like I said he's a mess. His joints have congenital deficiencies and (I probably have the phrase wrong) bone mites....something like that.

Dr. Lozier's comment as told thru the e-doc...I can't make him normal. We'll meet and find out what the options are. They want him to have a CT scan first so they can get a better overall picture of my spare parts puppy. Even the e-doc...now please know I was not offended because I call him this...called him a lemon puppy...a very sweet lemon puppy...but a lemon puppy.

Osteophytes? If so, Katy has those in her elbow and it's from her arthritis. The vet specialist said we could get them removed, but at her age she may not survive the surgery. So, we manage her pain with varying degrees of medications.

See I knew if I waited long enough someone would give me the correct phrase. They were throwing so much last night and he was grumpy so I wasn't really listening all that well.

He has an appointment on Saturday with the Ortho...to talk about what if any action is appropriate. I know he wants a CT scan so we can figure out what the overall is. With both rear hips and now a front knee...before he tackles it one joint at a time as they go out, I think he's hoping to figure out just what to do and what not to do.

I think there is a very good chance we will end up managing the pain as long as possible, rather than subjecting him to a bunch more surgery...we'll have to wait and see Saturday afternoon.

Thanks Jen..I knew you would set me straight.
