Ok, let me into the forum now!

All right, I'm a bit of a smart alec. Um... I like pit bulls. We were foster parents for a bullie rescue based out of Minneapolis, MN. We did great with the first one and let her go to her forever home. We failed with the second one, Tanner and kept him. Tanner got to choose our next foster, and he chose Amber. We failed with her too.

Tanner died of lymphoma 11 months after we met him, but we're so glad we got to spoil him for those 11 months. Now, Amber is our only pit bull. She is dog selective but loves dogs once she gets to know them. She is also leash reactive. *sigh* We sure do love her though. ;)

We have a 11 month old Dogue de Bordeaux puppy named Andre. He's a big goofy clown and I can NOT believe how many people have asked me if he's a pit bull. Hello? Other than being a canine, they don't look anything alike.

My husband and I have one small human child who is now 6 months old. And two senior citizen cats.

I've been known to hang out at pitbullforum.com but don't post much. I'm always looking for new information and techniques to try with Amber and her reactivity. WackiJacki suggested I check out this forum because you're all so friendly.

Oh, and I really do work from home so I'm always looking for ways to waste time online. :)

I thought your second picture was a DDB-- a friend of mine has several. They are amazing dogs. So sweet and a WHOLE LOTTA DOG.

I've got a couple of reactive pups, myself, so I understand you there!

Welcome!

Wait-- I KNEW I recognized your pit bull! I've been trolling Etsy a little too much lately... Your beds are beautiful!

Hi everyone! Thanks for the warm welcome. Jacki was right about how friendly you all are! :)

Amalie, Andre is our second DDB. They're alot like pit bulls in that one is never enough. Now if only I could convince my husband that our house is big enough for more than one of each.

And thank you for the compliment on the beds. Feel free to troll Etsy some more. I try to add more beds a couple times a week. Maybe I'll add something that's perfect for you. ;)

ETA: Amber is kinda distinctive. Even before you hear her shrieking. :D

We had the opportunity to get a DDB; we thought we couldn't afford her (she was purebred) and I wanted to rescue... found out later she needed to be rehomed and we wouldn't be paying other than to give her a good home. They are just great dogs.

Beds are definitely a wish-list item-- however, our senior dog is getting, shall we say, leaky and has to have a crib mattress pad and old yard sale sheets wrapped around his very flat bed (otherwise, he falls over trying to get on it); the pit bull eats her crate bedding at the moment; and the labby only wants the couch or the bed and anything we put on the floor gets leaked on and then remarked by the cats. :rolleyes2:

But I am always keeping my eyes open so that I can buy one QUICK when I'm ready! And I'll be directing folks your way in the meantime :) .

I'm heading to Wisconsin at the end of July. I'm sure I could just scour the state while I am there and do a drive by grabbing and have her on her way to your house. That is....after the not so momentary stay at my house. Gator could stand 2 banging into his crate and going nanny nanny boo boo with bones and toys right?

Thanks for the compliments on my kids. They're photogenic (and don't have any of my genes). ;)

I'll be hiding Amber now that I have people who want to take her. She's a sweetheart and I wouldn't dream of letting her live anywhere else. I am always open to interviewing babysitters for her and Andre.

I used to foster for Midwest Animal Rescue Services in Minneapolis. They're an all-breed rescue with a "bully division". But then we moved to northern Wisconsin so it's not feasible to foster due to the distance and having to bring the dogs back to Minneapolis for meetings, vet visits, etc.
