12-year old Belg. Mal in need of new home or foster

Postby katiek0417 » June 23rd, 2010, 9:41 am

I know we have alot of members on this board, so I'm really hoping this catches someone's eye...

This was was adopted through the Belg. Malinois rescue 12 years ago, but the owners are now moving and can't take him along. He is an old man, and he just wants to be comfortable...

Ty, adopted through ABMC Rescue in 1998, needs a foster home. Owners are moving ...and can't take him along. We have a deadline of July 5th, spread the word please!! Ty is in Albany, NY.

If you have it in your heart to either foster or take in Ty, please contact me ASAP!

This sort of story just breaks my heart. I am not judging the owners who are giving up the dog...I just feel so bad for the dog. :( He spends his whole life with a family and now his last chapter will be (hopefully) with other people. Reminds me of my Lenny's situation.

I found out a little more...the owners are getting up there in age and have to go to an assisted living facility...I don't know the details, but do know that it was unexpected...

The good news is that I have 2 friends that are interested, and it looks like the first one that contacted me will be getting him!

I am very happy...Ty is 14 years old...he deserves to live out the rest of his life in a happy and loving home...

Unfortunately, in the meantime, I just got an email containing a craigslist ad for an 11-year old dutch shepherd female... :rolleyes2:

I mean, really? Is this "Give up your senior dog" day? :sad2:

So, I got in touch with Christie (head of NADSR)...and she sent the owners an email....so I'm trying to find that dog a home now (actually, I got in touch with the second person who was interested in Ty)...so, please, everyone keep your fingers crossed that we can place a 2nd senior dog today!

I am glad the first one may have found a new home! And since you are doing great placing dogs this week, I am betting you will find another home for the second one. :)

Congrats on finding a home for Ty :D and hope the senior dog on cl works out with the 2nd people. I hate seeing senior dogs on craigslist (especially some of the posts I've seen where people have the most stupid reasons for it) is so sad.

I'm right there with you...these people didn't give a reason...

Unfortunately, the second home won't pan out for her...however, we're still trying to get her out before these people dump her at a shelter... :nono:
